of exhaustion... Left to drown, forever to the shadows...

The setting is the planet "Kai", and the "rival tribes" of the species "Mantakore or Mantakai" of the "Pridelands of Bane"
are at war with one another. The five tribes that hope to succeed the throne of "Tunkahta; Lord of Bane" are as follows:

The planet Kai is a warm and beautiful tropical planet.
The Pridelands are located on the continent of Bane, on the uppermost region of the planets Northern hemisphere.
Here the air is dry and the plains are filled with the herds of migrating animals that the tribes depend on for food.
The heat from Kai's immense sun is in splendid contrast to the cool evening and nighttime skies that dance with a
multitude of brilliant stars from the glow of the five nearby moons.

The tribes of "Bane" are named after these moons, and each is aglow with it's own dazzling hue.
The moon Quatache' is blue, Rakka is red, Shauneh is purple, Tarah is gold and Tigg is bone white.

Lord Tunkahta, is a saber-toothed Mantakai from the tribe of Tigg, his reign is nearly over now, and as the alignment
of the moons over Mount Sianna approaches the tribes are becoming more and more restless. Each tribe is eager
to claim the throne, and control the "Law" of the Pridelands for the three years of reign until the next lunar alignment.
We are on the eve of war, and the "battle for the Pridelands" between the "rival tribes" of Bane is sure to be an epic
display.

Our story actually begins a generation before this "battle for the Pridelands", when the elder race of the "Mantakai" were
united and facing an entirely different opponent... The "Tabognai" (reptiles).

The Planet Kai And It's Solar System

The planet "Kai" is located in a galaxy known as M31 in Andromeda. It is the (8th) planet from the "Sianna" or "Sun",
which it orbits every (550) days, from some 147,000,000 miles away. Around "Sianna" revolve (12) planets with their

"Kai" rotates on it's axis of (25 degrees) once every (18) hours. It is the (3rd) smallest planet in it's galaxy
(about 1/3 the size of Earth), with such little mass it has slightly less gravity (about 3/4) than that of Earth.
For example: an object weighing (100 lbs.) on Earth, would weigh (75 lbs.) on "Kai", therefore, the animals
of "Kai" are considerably larger than those of earth. With an average weight of (800 to 1,000 lbs.), some
"Mantakai" may reach a weight of (1,300 to 1,500 lbs.) on Earth.

From the planets surface, "Kai" appears to have up to (5) moons in it's orbit at any given time. Although "Kai"
only has (2) "satellite" moons ("Rakka" and "Shauneh"), the nearby planets of "Tigg", "Quatache'" and "Tarah"
are so close, that they appear to be an additional (3) moons. These (5) moons of "Kai" are the source from
which the "Mantakore" tribes have gotten their names.

The satellite moon "Rakka" is the fastest moving moon of "Kai" and it circles the planet (3) times a day, or
every (6) hours in a (18) hour "Kaian" day. "Rakka" is so consistent that the primitive calendar/clock of the
"Mantakore" is based on it. "Rakka" appears from "Kai's" view to be the second largest moon of the five.
The other satellite moon "Shauneh" orbits "Kai" every (13) days or (42) times in a "Kiain" year. From "Kai's"
surface, "Shauneh" appears to be the second smallest of the five moons. Of the other three moons or
(Planets) in view on "Kai", "Quatache'" is the largest in view of the five, and "Tigg" the smallest. "Tarah"
appears to be of similar size to "Shauneh" from "Kai's" view.

These (5) moons of "Kai" align once every (3) years, or every (1,650) days, and the order of their alignment
varies with each occurrence. The "Mantakore" gather to behold the event, which occurs at sunset on the
(489th) day of the year, the alignment only lasts for a matter of minutes as the moon "Rakka" passes by
so quickly. As "Sianna" drops behind the highest mountain-top in the "Pridelands", "Mount Sianna" (named
for it's incredible sight as it eclipses the sun each evening), the alignment begins.

About The Mantakai or (Man of Kai):

The Mantakai is a cat-like mammal with six appendages, it is a Quadruped with a torso and a set of arms
like that of a human, and a feline neck and head. With a much larger cranial capacity than any Earth dwelling
cat, and the dexterity of human-like hands the Mantakai is a highly intelligent being and a skilled craftsman
and hunter.

The leader is always a Quatache' male; hailed for their wisdom and nobility the Quatache' are born leaders.
The length of time that a leader may rule varies, he is usually not crowned until after the fourth season of the
Stance, and may rule until death or until old age has lessened his ability to rule. The mating season of the
Mantakore is once every year, about thirty to forty days after the Rakka eclipse. The female Mantakai is able to
produce offspring once she is six years old, this is considered adulthood while the male reaches adulthood
at four years of age. Each mating season usually bares one to two cubs per adult female, but this female will
not produce any more offspring for another two years, this is probably to insure that the needs of the cubs are
reached before a mother is burdened with another infant cub. The survival rate of a Mantakai cub is very good,
and with little space for the Mantakore population to migrate to and inhabit, it is rare that a female have more
than two cubs to add to the population, this also explains why the female only has two breasts to nourish her
offspring.

Mantakai Tribe Names And Racial Characteristics

QUATACHE' (Lion) The noble ones, full of pride, with a sense of duty and chivalry. Well-mannered and eloquent.

RAKKA (Tiger) The craftsmen, skilled and dexterous with their hands, the most advanced race in terms of their
written language.

SHAUNEH (Snow Leopard) The spiritual and even-tempered ones, pacifists to a degree, very calm and
non-judgmental, meditation and Zen.

TARAH (Cheetah) The swift and agile hunters, very sleek and wiry in their movements and in their body-language.

TIGG (Panther) The barbarians, vulgar and garish in their mannerisms, with a brutal and blood-thirsty love for battle.

About The Tobognai or (Of Water):

Tabognai Tribe Names And Racial Characteristics

SAUKWA (Alligator/Crocodile) The strongest of the reptiles; with the largest bite radius and the most upright in
their stance.

TABUK (Monitor Lizard) The smartest of the reptiles; with a cunning and silent attack, their enormous tails are
used to strike and stun their victims.

MOLACH (Horned Lizard) This pain inflicting reptile uses it's spikes to defend and defeat an enemy, long sharp
quills along the spine can be shot like harpoons.

SLOK (Totoise/Turtle) The armored reptile uses it's protective covering like a suit of armor, making it nearly

impossible to ward off this slow but persistent foe.

BITAUN (Flying Iguana) The only reptile capable of flight, actually this animal is able to glide by using the stretch
of loose skin between it's appendages as wings.

JAUG (Gila Monster) The venomous reptile; having no stomach acids, this animal cannot digest it's food without
consuming "Blydge" a highly poisonous plant. The secretions of this poison leave the stomach and remain inside
a gland in the esophagus were it can be called upon by the salivation glands for eating. Consequently the bite
of this animal causes poison (or venom) to enter the victims blood stream causing blindness and paralysis.
