A LEAF ON THE BREEZE So, if you are following the pre-production at this point, then you know we are approaching the crucial re-write phase of the script and our first pass on all the production designs. Things are rolling forward steadily, I begin writing next Wednesday and I'm feeling really good about the plan of attack at this point, there is a lot of strength in the solutions we have found to the story's plot and character development - I am happy and very eager to get it all down on paper for the next phase, production! I just got chills! So much to look forward to! I plan to be adding new artwork and some script samples to the site
on my next couple of updates, so stay tuned. . . . . . FILM OF THE WEEK: First Awesome film to report on is COLLATERAL - Which has a small scene with our own Ian Hannin, who's character gets his cell phone stolen by Jamie Foxx in the heat of the action! WAY TO GO IAN!!! I really liked this movie, the performances by Cruise, Foxx and Pinkett-Smith were really good and the direction by Michael Mann was top notch! I highly recommend it! GARDEN STATE! This film rules! The best film I have seen in soooo long. . . Quirky and touching and completely entertaining, I am so impressed with the writing / directing and performance by the film's lead actor, Zach Braff - you may know him from the TV show, Scrubs - he is a very gifted storyteller. Natalie Portman is so alive on screen in this film, she is once again the promising actress I once saw a glimpse of in movies like "The Professional" (Gary Oldman ALWAYS kicks ass too!), "Beautiful Girls" (one of my all time favorite movies!) and Cold Mountain - Now if only George Lucas would quit ruining her career with his horrible "prequels", thank god there's only one more to stomach through - I'm getting off the subject now, aren't I? Yes, GARDEN STATE. . . SEE IT! That's right. . . The Scorpions baby!!! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
081304 - Friday, 8:15 p.m. FALL OF SUMMER Well let me start by saying that I'm sorry it has been so long since I have updated this page - things have been busy and stressful, but it seems to be returning to normal now. All I can say about the direction of BOTI at this point is HOLD ON TO YOUR PANTIES!!! Because we are going for a hell of a ride! I have been having meetings with other friends and writers, like Cody Goodfellow and Arvid Nelson and they have been incredibly helpful in finding lots of reference to support plot points and new ideas... The rewrite will begin for me on the 1st of September, so right now I am organizing my notes and restructuring the sequence of events - It is all very exciting. There has been another turn of events, a bitter-sweet one... One of our Art Directors, Daren Bader, has been dealing with an incredibly stressful work load and consequently, he will be bowing out of the pre-production work, but may return to help out in post production. So there's the bitter part (we'll miss having you Daren!) and here comes the sweetness! Enter Vanessa Lemen - Vanessa will be joining the team and co-art directing with Ron Lemen who just happens to be her spouse. So we have taken Lemons and maid LEMEN-AID!!!! Okay, silly puns aside, the blend of Vanessa and Ron's work is awesome and I am thrilled that they are both involved! A few non-BOTI related mentions: The San Diego Comic Convention was a huge success and I am sure that
many great things will come from the exposure that the ROGUE
CREATIONS booth received and contacts that we made. Gothic Cowboy
will begin the rough edit phase this month and we will keep you posted
on the progress as we go. . . . FILM OF THE WEEK: Not too much to mention this time, and that says a lot because it has been more than a month since I have written anything... I saw Open Water, but wasn't that impressed... incredible story, don't get me wrong, but as a piece of cinema I wasn't feeling all that the hype had promised. If you haven't seen Hellboy, buy the DVD, it is one of the better comic book movies around... I can't wait to see Robert Rodriguez bring Sin City to life! Speaking of sinners, what would rock 'n' roll be without the "Heathen" himself? -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
